Capcom kuttet ut hele kapittelet fra Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem was one of the most talked-about releases of 2026. This is evidenced not only by the enthusiastic reviews from players and critics but also by Capcom’s financial results, as the game became the best-selling title in the franchise’s history and recently surpassed the 7 million mark in worldwide sales.

Recently, the game’s developers—specifically game director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa—gave an interview to Denfaminicogamer in which they discussed the decision not to include Ada Wong in Resident Evil Requiem and hinted that a mini-game would be released very soon as part of the game’s DLC, confirmed last month. But they also revealed that Capcom has cut an entire story chapter in Resident Evil Requiem, explaining that it was unnecessary from the perspective of the overall narrative. More details from the developers you can check out below:

“I've mentioned in interviews before that there was a phantom 'Chapter 2' for Resident Evil 7 that was cut during development. It was a scene where you move from the first annex to the main building. But actually, there was also a phantom Chapter 2 for Resident Evil Requiem.

In the process of finalizing the game's structure, we make a lot of choices, like 'Let's move this scene further in the story,' 'Let's cut this part out completely,' or 'Let's add a different element here.

We don't just suddenly cut things out at the end of development; we often make repeated revisions during the initial, rough draft stage. In that process, it's quite common for entire chapters to disappear. It's similar to editing text or video. We shoot a lot of footage, arrange it, and think about whether the intended message comes across, how the tempo and interest are, and then we cut out anything that's unnecessary. Surprisingly, sometimes the overall result is better if certain elements are omitted. Subtraction is really important.

Having a lot of information can change how users perceive things. When I first started working on Resident Evil, I was told, 'Resident Evil may look difficult, but it has to be understandable even to casual gamers who don't usually play games.'"

Of course, the person who produced it will be disappointed and may even get angry, but if the result is good, everyone will be satisfied. Conversely, that means we have to take responsibility for the result."

Not only Ada Wong, as confirmed by developers, but Capcom also cut a possibility to ride across the second part of Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem, as well as the mansion from the original Resident Evil title. This information was revealed shortly after the game’s release by franchise insider Dusk Golem.

Besides Resident Evil Requiem’s story expansion, which, according to rumors, will reveal the “true ending” of Requiem and lay the groundwork for the tenth installment, Capcom is developing a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which is set to be released in 2027 and is considered the studio's most ambitious project.

The tenth installment is also in active development; it will feature a new protagonist named Talia and bring together Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine to battle Alex Mercer. None of this has been confirmed, so it should be treated as a rumor.
