Strauss Zelnick reagerte på ideen om at AI skulle lage Grand Theft Auto VI

The idea of using AI in video games is a debatable topic nowadays. Specifically, when it comes to some big-budget titles, AI is just ruining video games with its low quality, technical issues, awful leveling designs, and, as a result, bad performance.

Moreover, using AI doesn’t necessarily mean this or that game will look better. And the recent reaction from the players to NVIDIA's latest graphics enhancement, DLSS 5, which uses advanced AI models trained on in-game data, is just another proof. Thankfully, Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated video game of 2026, does not use any AI tools, as was previously confirmed by the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, back in February. The players were actually really happy and relaxed after this report, and in the new interview, Zelnick decided to speak more about the possible connection of GTA 6 and AI.

Strauss Zelnick Responded to the Idea of AI Making Grand Theft Auto VI 1

During the conversation with The Game Business, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive was asked whether AI can develop products like Grand Theft Auto VI, and those fans who support the use of AI tools in video games may not like it. You can check out the highlights from the interview below:

“Equally, you can create assets that might look like a big release, that might look like NBA 2K or EA Sports FC. But creating a hit of that magnitude is a completely different animal and does require human engagement and creativity.

Not even the littlest bit. There’s already plenty of technology out there that allow people to create video games, and as a result, thousands of video games are created every year, and yet the hits all cluster among the large entertainment companies, almost entirely, and now and then, an indie, which is generally speaking well-funded and pretty robust in and of itself. The notion that somehow new tools would allow an individual to push a button and generate a hit and bring it to many millions of consumers around the world, it’s a laughable notion. It’s just never been the case with entertainment. Right now there are programs that allow you to put out a prompt and get a professionally recorded song spit back out at you. It sounds like a song, but I defy you to listen to it more than once. It’s great to send as a greeting card to your partner on their birthday, but that’s about it.”
