Nye rykter peker mot Physints budsjett på 400 millioner dollar – men det er bekymringer

Speculation continues to surround Hideo Kojima’s new project, Physint. Once again, there has been talk about the game’s budget, which may be quite sizable, and for the first time, estimated figures have been cited—though some well-known insiders doubt their authenticity.

The information originally came from The Game Business, which reported that Physint’s budget is approximately $400 million—Xbox is ready to invest in Kojima’s project. Earlier, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier reported the game had a significant budget when it was originally slated to be published by PlayStation; this is why the company declined to fund it, fearing the project would not be a financial success. Schreier has already responded to The Game Business’s report, stating that Physint’s budget is significantly smaller; in turn, Windows Central has also denied Xbox is prepared to pay $400 million for the game.

Windows Central claims Xbox is paying only a fraction of the rumored $400 million for Hideo Kojima’s PHYSINT.

According to Jez Corden, sources with direct knowledge of the contracts said that the $400 million figure being reported may actually have been the amount Sony/PlayStation could have been on the hook for before its deal was cancelled.

Corden says Xbox and Kojima Productions are instead working with a “fraction” of that figure.

Given that things didn’t go according to plan when PlayStation refused to fund Physint, much about the game remains unclear. For instance, Kojima previously stated he hadn’t yet decided which engine the game would use. Rumors have also suggested he might not have access to Decime, which he used during the development of Death Stranding. In any case, the project is still in a very early stage of development, and all speculation regarding its budget may not necessarily reflect the actual situation.

Apart from Physint, Xbox will also publish another project by Hideo Kojima—a horror game titled OD. The game designer recently confirmed work on the game is ongoing and announced that motion capture has resumed. Jordan Peele—director of horror films such as Get Out and Us—is also involved in the project. The release date for OD and the platforms on which it will be available remain unknown.
