CD Projekt REDs aksjer falt etter at The Witcher 4 ble utsatt til 2028.

Ahead of Gamescom 2026, which will take place this week in Germany, CD Projekt RED—which had previously confirmed its attendance—recently made an important announcement regarding one of its upcoming projects. Specifically, the company’s joint CEO, Michał Nowakowski, not only stated that The Witcher 4 will not be featured at this year's Gamescom but also confirmed that the game’s release is planned for 2028. As it turned out, this had a negative impact on CD Projekt RED’s stocks.

As reported by Bankier, citing the Warsaw Stock Exchange, CD Projekt RED’s stock fell 7% following Michał Nowakowski’s statement. This appears to indicate that the game’s release was expected in 2027, as earlier rumors had also suggested. However, the development team likely needs more time to meet the deadline. Additionally, they do not want to repeat the mistakes made during the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2020 and want to ensure The Witcher 4 is of the highest quality.

Even though The Witcher 4 won’t be released next year, 2027 will be a treat for fans of the franchise. As is well known, that’s when Songs of the Past—a new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—is set to be released, and a full-length demonstration is planned for today as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026.

Gamescom 2026 will take place from August 26 to August 30 in Cologne, Germany. Opening Night Live 2026 takes place on Tuesday, August 25 at 8:00 PM CEST/ 2:00 PM EDT/ 11:00 AM PDT, preceded by a pre-show starting 30 minutes prior.
