The latest update of PUBG introduced a respawn system similar to the one in Apex Legends

Battle royale games are a constantly evolving genre, with each new release striving to improve the gameplay experience and address issues inherent to the genre since PUBG's release in 2017. Dying in a team game has always been a challenge for developers, as it can be frustrating to be stuck on the sidelines while your teammates run, shoot, and collect items.

However, Apex Legends found a solution by adding respawn beacons to the game, and PUBG followed suit with the release of update 23.2. Now, deadly loot containers containing blue chips can be found on the Erangel, Miramar, and Desoton maps.

If you find a blue chip, you can take it to a blue chip generator tower located throughout the map or use a blue chip transmitter that can be obtained in-game. However, using the transmitter makes you completely immobile and vulnerable for 10 seconds.

It's worth noting that there's no way to do this quietly; both the tower and transmitter emit a loud sound that lets your enemies know you're trying to regain your strength. The idea is to maintain the death effect that is a core part of the battle royale experience, providing little hope for survival to solo players.

The Blue Chip system has its limitations. Firstly, it only works on large maps designed for longer games to soften the disappointment of early deaths. Secondly, it stops working after Phase 7 to avoid any unexpected events spoiling the last few minutes of the match. It's also worth noting that the system doesn't provide instant resurrection, and you'll have to wait for your friends to respawn at the beginning of the next phase.

The Comeback BR, introduced in the 12.2 update, was another attempt by PUBG to bring players back. It's a map-specific system that sends players to a second arena to fight for their lives again if they survive long enough. This system will still be available in the new update, but its usage will be limited on smaller maps according to the developers' statement: "Why not add the Recall system to maps where Comeback BR already exists - Erangel, Miramar, and Deston? On smaller maps, the game time is shorter, so it's quicker to start a new game after death."

Additionally, the update will also include a map marker for players leaving transportation, an updated Down But Not Out mechanic, and the highly anticipated clan system with its own progression system and rewards. The 23.2 update is scheduled for May 16/17 for PC and May 24/25 for consoles.
