The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—Remastered har blitt det høyest rangerte spillet i 2026 på Metacritic

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—Remastered—an updated version of the original third installment, released in 2015—was officially dropped yesterday, September 29. CD Projekt RED has enticed lots of players to return to this beloved RPG, as owners of the original received the update for free. Additionally, the game has taken the top spot on the list of the year’s highest-rated games.

At least that’s the situation right now on Metacritic, where The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—Remastered has a score of 94, based on 10 critic reviews. If you look at the site’s list of the highest-rated games released this year, the remaster shares first place with Sektori —last year’s twin-stick shooter, which became available on Nintendo Switch 2 this May. As for the user rating of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—Remastered, it is also quite high—8.5, based on just 11 reviews so far.

It’s also worth noting that the rating for the remastered version on Metacritic is 2 points higher than the original game’s, which once again speaks to the success of CD Projekt RED’s work. Incidentally, the remaster got off to such a strong start on Steam that it broke the record for concurrent players set over the past 11 years. The record currently stands at 120,975 players.

However, despite widespread praise, PC users—particularly owners of AMD graphics cards— are complaining about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered; even on the most powerful cards, there are significant FPS drops and texture loss. Meanwhile, CD Projekt RED reacted and advised players to download the latest drivers.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and also Nintendo Switch 2. Next year, CD Projekt RED will release a new DLC for the third installment, Songs of the Past, and The Witcher 4, the next chapter in the saga, is scheduled for 2028.
