As is often the case with announcements like this, not everyone is happy with the final list of nominees. Players were particularly surprised by the absence of GTA 6 from the Most Wanted Game category and by the fact that the gameplay presentation, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, didn’t make the cut for Best Game Trailer. Similarly, there was a strong belief Pearl Abyss, the developers of Crimson Desert, would be nominated for Studio of the Year, but that didn’t happen—which is quite odd, given that the studio has actively supported the game since its release, and thanks to free updates, it has become one of the best RPGs of the year.

The record-holders include 007 First Light and Big Walk, which received the most awards (6), while Resident Evil Requiem, one of the best games of the year, received 4 nominations. The voting will remain open until October 23, as previously announced, and Ultimate Game of the Year voting will take place from October 26 to 30.
