Anmeldelser av The Blood of Dawnwalker avslørt – Rebel Wolves klarte å lage et anstendig rollespill

The Blood of Dawnwalker, an upcoming RPG that many fans of the genre have high hopes for, is set to be released this week. The reason for such hype is Rebel Wolves, a studio made up of former The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developers, and judging by early reactions from critics, they’ve managed to create a solid game despite some initial concerns.

Following the lifting of the embargo, The Blood of Dawnwalker’s first reviews have begun to appear, and they have been largely positive. Despite many similarities to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in terms of atmosphere, soundtrack, and narrative, the game has its own unique identity - the time-limit mechanic, which forces players to choose which quests to tackle and which to skip. Critics note that this encourages replayability. They also highlight the deep and beautiful open world, various RPG mechanics, and a considerable number of side quests.

But there have been some controversial aspects as well. For instance, the combat system leaves much to be desired, and the open world sometimes feels empty. Additionally, there have been reports of technical issues, and the characters’ facial animations sometimes look awkward. Currently, The Blood of Dawnwalker has a Metacritic score of 83 (based on 45 critic reviews) and an OpenCritic score of 84, with 90% of critics recommending the game. You can check out some of the brief reviews below:

VICE – 100/100:

Rebel Wolves may have built the game on familiar open-world RPG foundations, but The Blood of Dawnwalker ultimately establishes an identity entirely its own. Its ambitious storytelling, rewarding combat and excellent vampire mechanics make it a genuine Game of the Year contender, and an absolute must-play for RPG fans.

CGMagazine – 95/100:

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a game that lays its ambitions bare at the beginning, and one-by-one pays off all those ambitions in remarkable ways. It’s a game that grips you early on, and sinks its teeth into you more with every passing hour.

Gamereactor UK – 90/100:

The game goes a step beyond merely being a homage, and perhaps borrows a few too many gameplay elements from the legendary The Witcher 3, but it's hard not to be quite considerably impressed by what Rebel Wolves has achieved here. The Blood of Dawnwalker offers innovative solutions to well-established design challenges that far larger, more experienced studios have been unable to resolve, and it does so with flair, character, and enthusiasm.

IGN – 90/100:

The Blood of Dawnwalker is an impressive, bloody cocktail of interesting ideas and well-written characters, making it one of this year’s best open-world RPGs.

VGC – 80/100:

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a fantastic first outing from Rebel Wolves and the clear start of a franchise. It's full of smart ideas that have the making of another classic RPG franchise.

TheGamer – 80/100:

There’s plenty to do in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and I’ve already spent a great deal of time wondering how different decisions might have shaped the outcomes, enough so that I will be playing through it again straight away. For a game I wasn’t entirely sure about at first, I’m happy to be walking away with a new addition to my lineup of favorite RPGs, and one that I’d love to see influence the genre.

The Blood of Dawnwalker will release on September 3 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. That’s when we’ll find out what players think of the new RPG. Nevertheless, the overwhelmingly positive reviews from the media are a good sign for Rebel Wolves—especially considering that the studio already expressed its desire to make a sequel and even hinted that the game's events might shift to a modern setting. We can only hope that The Blood of Dawnwalker manages to achieve its desired sales figures.
