Digital Foundry har gjort en analyse av GTA 6-spillingen – 1440p, 30 FPS og strålesporede refleksjoner
Rockstar recently shared the first gameplay footage of GTA 6 as part of the game’s presentation on Netflix, and even though the first gameplay clips had already been leaked beforehand, no one is even talking about them anymore. The developers have managed to make the most anticipated game of 2026 seem even more eagerly awaited, as the presentation of 'Grand Theft Auto: An Extended Look' impressed players with its graphics, incredible detail, draw distance, animations, physics, NPC modeling, and other features.
Meanwhile, Digital Foundry analyzed the gameplay of GTA 6, giving players a more detailed understanding of the game’s technical aspects. The expert team concluded that Rockstar Games is targeting 30 FPS in the development of GTA 6; it has been confirmed that the game was demonstrated on the base model PlayStation 5, and it appears that the same performance can be expected on Xbox—though there is speculation that performance might be better on a future PC version or even the PlayStation 5 Pro. According to DigitalFoundry, achieving 60 FPS on the current generation of consoles will be extremely difficult due to the heavy load on the CPU and the 33.3-millisecond interval for processing each frame. Among other interesting details, it was confirmed that the game was recorded at its native resolution of 1440p and that it features advanced ray tracing for reflections and global illumination, highly sophisticated NPC simulation, and much more.
New GTA 6 analysis by Digital Foundry:
- 1440p internal resolution on base PS5
- Relatively stable 30 FPS
- Extensive ray-traced reflections & global illumination
- Major improvements to hair, character rendering & animation
- Extremely detailed LODs & draw distances
- Highly sophisticated NPC simulation
- Hybrid rendering techniques balancing visuals & performance
- PS5 Pro could further improve image quality & ray tracing
Previously, Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, also confirmed that GTA 6 will run at 30 FPS on all consoles, including the PlayStation 5 Pro; however, it’s possible that the game could reach 60 FPS in the future using Performance Mode, though this is merely speculation at this point. Meanwhile, IGN called GTA 6 a “technical masterpiece,” but noted that the game will truly unlock its full potential only on PC, since the current generation of consoles is not capable of showcasing its whole range of possibilities. We heard something similar back in 2013, when Rockstar Games released GTA 5 on the consoles of that generation, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
