Netflix Games has officially announcedUnhinged, a new psychological horror adventure from Night School Studio, set to launch exclusively for Netflix members on June 30, 2026. The game introduces an unusual gameplay mechanic by transforming the player's smartphone into an essential part of the horror experience.

Unhinged Turns Your Phone Into the Main Controller

Unlike traditional horror games, Unhinged uses a smartphone as more than just a companion device. After launching the game through Netflix, players scan a QR code to connect their phone, which then becomes the primary controller.

Movements made with the phone directly control the protagonist's hands and flashlight, while incoming calls, text messages, and vibrations play through the real device, creating a more immersive survival experience.

A Psychological Horror Story During a Devastating Hurricane

The story follows Ava, who becomes trapped inside her apartment building as a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane cuts her off from the outside world.

Her only source of communication is her best friend, Claire, who remains safely across the street and stays in contact through phone calls. As the blackout continues, Ava discovers that the building is no longer the safe refuge it once seemed. Locked exits, disturbing encounters, and an unseen presence gradually turn the apartment complex into a terrifying nightmare.

Presented from a first-person perspective, the game blends psychological horror with interactive storytelling, forcing players to make difficult decisions as the mystery unfolds.

Two Gameplay Modes Available

Unhinged offers two different ways to experience its story.

Story Mode removes timers and death mechanics, allowing players to focus on the narrative, while Standard Mode introduces survival-focused gameplay with timed sequences and greater tension.
