It’s been almost 10 years since the release of the last installment of Uncharted—The Lost Legacy, which was more of a standalone expansion to the fourth installment, A Thief's End. While rumors about Uncharted 5 remain just that—rumors—some intriguing information has surfaced suggesting that Naughty Dog may have been working on a remake of the original game.

On the YouTube channel Last Stand Media, an interview was released with the well-known data miner TheKempy, who last month published a documentary about the development of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End during Amy Hennig's leadership. During the conversation, the data miner revealed that he had managed to obtain files related to the remake of the first Uncharted installment—Drake's Fortune—within the PC version of The Last of Us: Part II. Specifically, he uncovered a scene where Nathan and Elena are shot down in Sully's plane. This image was created using the same engine as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

TheKempy, a data miner who recently created the in-depth video U ncovering Amy Hennig‘s Uncharted 4 shared on Colin Moriarty’s podcast that a slice of the Uncharted 1 remake can be found in the files of TLOU 2

He reiterated the story reported by Jason Schreier and then shared what he had seen in the game files.

The slice contained the section where Nate and Elena get shot down in Sully‘s plane with the graphics of Uncharted 4. It was likely a small slice to be pitched to Sony for funding.

Naughty Dog has never announced any plans to create a remake of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, so all the information mentioned should be taken as just a rumor. However, this could also suggest that Sony considered releasing the game not only on PlayStation 5 but also on PC. Since PlayStation has generally decided against launching its single-player games on other platforms, the game's future remains uncertain.

As for Uncharted 5, preliminary insider information suggests that Naughty Dog is working on the game, with Nathan Drake expected to make an appearance, although he likely won't be the main protagonist. The game will be directed by Shaun Escayg, who also directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
