Fans legger merke til likheter mellom GTA 6 og GTA: Vice City-covere

This week, Rockstar Games not only announced that pre-orders for GTA 6 will begin next week, on June 25th, but also revealed the official cover art for the most anticipated game of 2026. As expected, the trailer quickly racked up a massive number of views, surpassing all announcements from the Summer Game Fest —even outpacing the God of War: Laufey's gameplay teaser, which has already garnered over 8 million views.

As you may know, the events of GTA 6 take place in Vice City, the legendary city from the original game of the series released in 2002. Naturally, fans recognized familiar locations in the game trailers, but with the release of the GTA 6 cover art, it became clear that it shares many similarities with the original GTA: Vice City cover. As the X account GTAVI_Countdown pointed out, this is particularly evident in the fact that Lance Vance and Raul Bautista are dressed in identical suits, along with many other details, as you can check out below:

The GTA 6 cover art shares many similarities with the original Vice City cover:

• Blue helicopter in the top left
• Motorcycle in the top right
• Cover girl in the left center
• Sonny Forelli and Boobie Ike wearing sunglasses
• Lance Vance and Raul Bautista holding a gun and wearing a similar outfit
• Yellow supercar and a speedboat in both covers

However, this does not mean that the events of GTA 6 will be directly connected to GTA: Vice City, as Rockstar Games is simply paying tribute to one of their classic hits. After all, when GTA 5 was released, many fans also believed it would be linked to the storyline of GTA: San Andreas because the game was set in Los Santos. But that didn’t happen—except, of course, for a few Easter eggs here and there.

As for the latest official updates on GTA 6, Rockstar Games has not made any new announcements yet. However, rumors are already circulating about the game's expected price, as well as a new trailer set to be released this month, which reportedly will be 20 minutes long.
