As of now, Sony has confirmed a State of Play event for June 2, while their longtime rivals at Microsoft are set to host their own Xbox Games Showcase five days later. There are also rumors of a Nintendo Direct presentation, though it may take place as part of the Summer Game Fest, scheduled for June 5 through 8.

The upcoming Summer Game Fest promises to delight players with a wealth of announcements, new trailer reveals, and fresh details. There are also rumors that Capcom will announce a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake, which is reportedly the studio's top priority right now and could become their most ambitious project in recent years.

In turn, the event's host, Geoff Keighley, caused quite a stir among fans with nothing more than a GIF depicting steam. Fans of the Half-Life series immediately began theorizing: if it’s steam, it must be the Steam store; Steam implies Valve, and for many, Valve is synonymous with Half-Life 3—a game that seems to be the subject of perpetual announcement rumors.

Nevertheless, these claims are not mere speculation pulled from thin air. It is alleged that Half-Life 3 does, in fact, exist and is currently in a playable state at an advanced stage of development. An official announcement had reportedly been scheduled for The Game Awards 2025, another high-profile gaming showcase hosted by Geoff Keighley. The title was intended to serve as the show's grand finale, but Valve ultimately changed their plans. This shift was linked to the surging cost of RAM at the time, as the studio had originally planned to launch Half-Life 3 in tandem with the Steam Machine. Instead, the showcase concluded with Highguard—a multiplayer shooter from Wildlight Entertainment that shuttered less than two months after its release this past January.

As previously mentioned, rumors about Half-Life 3 have persisted throughout the year, surfacing most frequently whenever major gaming events approach where the game might be unveiled. However, since Valve has not officially confirmed that the game is in development, fans are left with nothing to do but hope for a miracle.
