Recently, information appeared that PlayStation is considering the possibility of creating new games based on franchises that, it seems, have long been put on the back burner. In particular, this was revealed by Jordan Middler from VGC, who paid special attention to the new entry in the inFamous series, which, allegedly, is in development—but not by Sucker Punch Productions.

Middler also added that they are looking to do something with more older game series, like Ape Escape, and it seems that the information he has is not taken out of nowhere. While speaking with some X social media users, reliable gaming insider NateTheHate indeed confirmed that Sony is considering returning to its old gaming franchises, potentially hinting at new games of titles such as Motorstorm, Sly Cooper, Ape Escape, Socom, and more, as you can check out below:

There is truth to Sony exploring & considering reviving some of their older, unused IPs.”

In a further conversation, the insider also shared his own preferences about some PlayStation IP that he would like to see. He mentioned Sly Cooper, Resistance, Legend of Dragoon, MotorStorm, Ape Escape, and inFamous. Speaking of the last one, he also added that he had heard nothing about the new game that might be in development.

Returning to old franchises could play to Sony's advantage—new games could attract both a new audience and bring back the attention of old fans. In addition, as is known, the company is actively working on the next-generation console, PlayStation 6, and the return of one, or perhaps several, game series as a PS6 exclusive would be a great reason to buy the console.
