Marvel's Venom kan nå bli kansellert hos Insomniac Games likevel

Denne artikkelen er tilgjengelig på følgende språk

Nadji Jeter, the voice actor of Miles Morales in multiple Marvel’s Spider-Man titles from Insomniac Games, has broken the news that the studio cancelled an unannounced title dedicated to Venom due to the passing of Tony Todd, the character’s voice actor, in 2024. However, several reputable sources have stated that this is not entirely true.

The fans were devastated after the news that Marvel’s Venom might be cancelled, however, some positive comments were revealed at ResetEra. For instance, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, a reliable gaming reporter, has revealed that the game is not cancelled, and user LordHuffnPuff, who is believed to be one of the game’s developers, revealed that Marvel’s Venom was discussed at last year’s Game Developer Conference show, and Tony Todd's death happened before. Although, he suggests that Insomniac Games might have cancelled the game over the last few weeks.

At last, we also have information from another gaming scooper, DetectiveSeeds. In his latest post on X, he wrote that he had contacted representatives of Insomniac Games, who told him that Marvel’s Venom is not cancelled for now, as you can check out below:

“I texted 2 people that I know at Insomniac and Venom game has NOT been canceled. There was a pause after the death of Tony Todd, but that was all. It is still a greenlit project under a codename that I was not given permission to say.”

Gamers are hopeful that Insomniac Games will not cancel Marvel’s Venom, as the game could serve as an excellent expansion of the universe and provide plenty of fun moments with the titular character, who is perhaps the main highlight of Marvel's Venom. Finally, the game could also serve as a fitting tribute to Tony Todd, who passed away in 2024. According to rumors, the game was originally conceived with a darker, more somber tone, an aggressive combat system, and Carnage (Cletus Kasady) as the main villain. It will also have the same size as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

As for Insomniac Games, the studio’s next title, Marvel’s Wolverine, is set to release on September 15 exclusively on PlayStation 5. The studio is also working on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, with mocap that could have started, which was teased by Peter Parker’s actor, Ben Jordan.
