Ubisoft kansellerte et spill inspirert av Animal Crossing og Minecraft med tittelen Alterra

This year, Ubisoft cancelled a lot of their upcoming titles, some of which were not even announced. Perhaps the biggest name on the list is the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which was announced back in 2020. Also, we heard reports of the cancellation of a session-based co-op shooter, Project Pathfinder, an extraction shooter set during World War II, Project Crest, and a multiplayer mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows— Assassin's Creed Codename League.

It looks like the collection has just been updated, as Insider Gaming is now reporting that the studio has cancelled an unannounced title, Alterra—a social sim inspired by Animal Crossing with a visual style and mechanics of Minecraft, where players would have been able to build whatever they want. The source is also revealing some details of the cancelled title: NPCs in the game were looking like Funko Pop characters, while the world consisted of different biomes in which you could have met unique creators and found materials to build and craft.

It is also mentioned that the cancellation of Alterra is not related to layoffs within Ubisoft Montreal, which developed the game for nearly three years, and these employees are now working on different projects at Ubisoft. The game was also set to be led by creative director Patrick Redding, who worked in the same position for Splinter Cell: Conviction and Gotham Knights, and Fabien Lheraud as its producer.

Ubisoft is now actively preparing for the reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which is scheduled for April 23 at 4PM UTC, 6PM CEST, and 9AM PDT. Gaming insider Tom Henderson recently revealed that the studio’s next release is another Ghost Recon video game, while Far Cry franchise is reportedly “going through hell” and the Splinter Cell Remake is postponed to 2027.
