Eidos Montreal studio is going through a rough patch. After various waves of layoffs, the studio was forced to cancel their new IP— Wildlands, a third-person action-adventure set in a fantasy open world. The game was reportedly almost complete and even set to release this year, but because of layoffs, the project was cancelled.

The studio is also believed to be working on an unannounced game based on Alien franchise, which has previously been described as “Shadow of the Tomb Raider with Xenomorphs”. Moreover, according to Readers.id, Eidos Montreal is also developing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2, a sequel to 2021’s superhero title. According to the source, the gaming studio is discussing a potential new game with Marvel Comics, given the success of plenty of superhero titles over the past few years.

The original Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was praised by the fans and critics for its storyline, which, in the opinion of some, develops the characters better than the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, as well as for its spectacular action scenes, combat system, soundtrack, humor, and even its limited variety. Recently, the game also received the rating from Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee for Nintendo Switch 2, which suggests that an announcement is imminent.
