Minecraft bekrefter lansering av Mounts of Mayhem-oppdateringen tidlig i desember
Minecraft will release Mounts of Mayhem in early December, introducing new mounts, armour options, and combat tools aimed at expanding long-distance travel and survival play. The update centers on sturdier companions and a broader set of traversal options, giving players more durable mobility across demanding biomes.
According to the Minecraft announcement, the release features netherite horse armour built to reduce risk during deep-Nether exploration. Its heat resistance allows mounts to move through lava-adjacent regions and withstand severe temperatures, extending the distance players can cover before dismounting. The armour also functions underwater, enabling travel through the game’s colder and darker depths without exposing the rider to immediate danger.
Several new mount types join the roster with the same focus on exploration: Camel Husks, Nautilus mounts, and zombie horses, which were previously locked to creative mode. Each can be tamed, though many will initially spawn with hostile riders. Their behaviour varies by region. The Camel Husk appears only in barren desert areas and emerges with two enemies mounted on its back. One is the familiar Husk; the second is a new skeleton-type figure called the Parched.

The Parched attacks with arrows of Weakness, giving it a different threat profile from other bow users and reducing the player’s ability to engage in prolonged melee exchanges. Like the Husk, it does not burn in sunlight, which forces players to handle the fight on the spot rather than delay until morning.
Nautilus mounts appear in deep-sea regions and pair with zombie horses guarded by a drowned rider. Clearing these enemies unlocks access to the mount, which can then travel across underwater terrain without the usual movement penalties. This expands options for crossing oceans without relying on boats or conduits.
Combat receives a full addition as well. The spear becomes a new weapon class with the standard material progression through wood, copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite. It supports two core attacks: a quick jab and a charge attack. Charge damage scales with speed, bringing mounted combat into closer focus. Sprinting, gliding with an elytra, or riding a fast mount increases the hit strength.

Minecraft highlighted the mechanic directly:
“The charge attack is particularly interesting because it deals more damage depending on how fast you’re moving. Sprint on foot, don your elytra, or grab your favourite steed to test this out!” — Minecraft
The update adds a lunge enchantment designed for mounted clashes. The move can unseat an opponent and accelerate the user, creating brief openings to break shields or disrupt aim. The technique costs hunger, adding a resource trade-off to repeated use.
The combined additions point to a shift toward long-range exploration supported by specialised mounts and gear. Each biome receives at least one new traversal method, and the expanded armour options allow riders to remain on horseback in areas that previously forced dismounts. Because the update will be free, players can experiment with the new systems immediately once it launches.
