Infinity Nikki-utviklerne beklager motreaksjoner rundt møbelpriser, lover gratis belønninger og justeringer
Infinity Nikki has recently been at the center of controversy following the launch of its version 1.9 update. What was intended as a major feature expansion quickly turned sour when Infold Games unveiled pricing details for the new furniture packs, which players immediately criticized as being far too expensive. The backlash grew quickly, prompting an official response from the studio, which has since apologized, offered free rewards, and promised structural changes to its approach.
The developers originally planned the furniture system as part of their vision to give Nikki not just a wardrobe of styles, but also a meaningful place to call home. Infold Games explained that the new housing system was designed as both a personal space for the character and a communal hub for stylists across the game. However, fans reacted negatively once they realized that the pricing strategy made many furniture items feel inaccessible, with some pointing out that certain items appeared to be single-use purchases that required real money. The issue escalated rapidly, leading to widespread frustration within the community.
In response, Infold Games issued an official apology on its website, acknowledging both the confusion and dissatisfaction caused by the initial pricing. "First of all, we sincerely apologize to all of you for the frustration and confusion caused by the pricing and usage of furniture," the studio wrote. The team admitted it had missed the mark in balancing paid content with what it considers core gameplay experience, particularly given the expectations around the new housing feature.
To soften the blow, Infold Games revealed that version 1.9 already contains substantial free content. This includes multiple outfits, a massive island space of 90,000㎡ with a build height of 100 meters, and over 999 free furniture pieces available from the start. These were intended to ensure that every player could create their dream home without needing to spend immediately. Still, the studio accepted that the premium pricing tied to additional furniture packs overshadowed these inclusions and undermined the feature’s launch.
Infold Games has since committed to making adjustments. Some furniture packs will return later in version 1.9 with revised pricing, while others will be offered through free distribution. For instance, the Astral Radiance Pack, Echo Waterwheel, and Seasons Couch will now be obtainable as free rewards, with their blueprints included in ability level progression. Other packs such as the Stellar Poems and the Leisure Tea Brewing sets will be released with updated pricing strategies, and the Stellar Cascade will eventually be reintroduced at a more favorable price point. The studio also promised that decorations from the open world would gradually become placeable within homes after optimization, expanding customization options without extra costs.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Douhu, Infinity Nikki’s lead gameplay systems designer, reflected on the lessons learned.
"Infinity Nikki is a game in constant evolution, and the best way to evolve is to move forward together with players," Douhu said. They explained that the incident highlighted the gap between the studio’s intentions and the players’ expectations. "By listening carefully and responding quickly, we can not only resolve immediate issues but also improve future design and content."
Douhu added that the biggest takeaway for the team was a clearer understanding of how players perceive value. "Pricing is never just about numbers—it’s about how players perceive value, how long-lasting the content feels, and whether the experience feels fair relative to the cost." To avoid similar issues in the future, Infold Games has strengthened its internal processes to capture community reactions immediately after updates. According to Douhu, this approach is about more than correcting a single controversy—it is about "building long-term trust."
The studio closed its public apology by emphasizing the importance of its community in shaping Infinity Nikki’s ongoing development. "We know that our ability to keep improving and progressing depends entirely on you," Infold Games wrote. "We appreciate every word of recommendation, we value every word of criticism, and above all, we hold every player's feelings close to heart."
The incident marks another challenge for Infinity Nikki, which has already faced scrutiny this year for its crossover collaboration with Stardew Valley. While that event was received with mixed reactions, the backlash over pricing has sparked more serious concerns about the game’s monetization approach. However, Infold Games’ willingness to walk back its plans, issue apologies, and provide free rewards suggests that the studio is attempting to align its business model more closely with player expectations.
Here are the Infinity Nikki Codes for newcomers. Who knows, are they still active or not?
As Infinity Nikki continues to evolve, the developers now face the task of regaining trust while proving that new updates can balance profitability with accessibility. The housing system has the potential to be a central pillar of the game’s appeal, and with more transparent communication, Infold Games hopes to ensure that future content lands more smoothly. For now, players can enjoy the newly added island, expansive building options, and a growing collection of free furniture while waiting to see how the studio recalibrates its pricing strategy in the months ahead.
