The Epic Stature of Thor in God of War Ragnarok: How Tall is He?

In the highly anticipated game God of War Ragnarok from Santa Monica Studios, Kratos finds himself facing off against some truly formidable adversaries. Among them are Odin and Heimdall, prominent figures in Norse mythology, who pose a significant threat to Kratos and his son, Atreus. But when it comes to sheer physicality, none can rival the imposing presence of Thor, depicted in the God of War universe as a hulking behemoth. While Kratos is no slouch himself, especially when compared to ordinary humans, standing toe to toe with Thor reveals a noticeable disparity in their respective heights. Kratos measures in at 1.93 meters (6 feet 4 inches), while Thor towers above at a staggering 2.25 meters (7 feet 4 inches).

The depiction of Thor in God of War Ragnarok has garnered praise from fans and critics alike. While it would have been a safer choice for Santa Monica Studios to align their interpretation of the God of Thunder with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's portrayal by Chris Hemsworth, they took a bold and different approach. This version of Thor is presented as an angry and bitter individual, a departure that has paid off.

From the moment Kratos first encounters Thor, it becomes evident that his towering height is one of his most striking attributes. In their subsequent clash, Thor proves to be a worthy adversary, effortlessly wielding his legendary hammer, Mjolnir, and matching Kratos blow for blow. Despite Kratos' past experiences battling colossal foes, including literal giants, he has rarely encountered an opponent who matches his own strength and speed as closely as Thor does.

Thor's insatiable thirst for battle drives him to constantly seek out new challenges. Long before Kratos' arrival, at the command of his father Odin, Thor single-handedly decimated most of the giants in Midgard, solidifying his reputation as the mightiest god in all of God of War's Nine Realms. In a battle for the ages, Thor even clashed with Kratos' wife Laufey, a formidable warrior in her own right, resulting in the destruction of an entire valley while narrowly avoiding killing each other.

During playable sections as Atreus, gamers have the opportunity to experience Thor as an ally, albeit reluctantly. As Kratos' son, Atreus' segments in God of War Ragnarok may lack the same impact as his father's, primarily due to his inexperience and limited abilities. Therefore, fighting alongside the God of Thunder provides a refreshing change of pace, injecting a newfound excitement into the gameplay. Witnessing Thor unleash his devastating power firsthand serves to emphasize the true magnitude of his character, further accentuating his impressive height.

When Kratos ultimately triumphs over Thor in the climactic moments of the game, he shows mercy to the fallen god, convincing him to join the battle against their mutual foe, Odin. The prospect of Kratos and Thor fighting side by side in an epic confrontation is an enticing one for fans. However, their alliance is short-lived as Odin intervenes, striking down his own son before the duo can unleash their combined might. Nevertheless, Thor's presence in God of War Ragnarok leaves an indelible mark, setting an imposing benchmark for Kratos' future adversaries, whoever they may be.
