It has been less than half a year since Pearl Abyss released Crimson Desert—a project that has proved extremely successful for the studio, despite a controversial launch marked by criticism of the game’s gameplay and storyline. Nevertheless, the developers have worked to address the issues, releasing around 20 different updates for the game so far, and it is now one of the standout titles of the year.

Pearl Abyss also made an appearance at Gamescom and the Opening Night Live presentation, where they announced Crimson Desert Enhanced. The accompanying trailer shown during the event confirmed that the game will include new story cutscenes and dialogue designed to make the narrative more cohesive. Additionally, Crimson Desert will receive other updates—support for five voice-over languages (French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese)—as well as various gameplay improvements. The developers have also fixed various technical issues and confirmed that owners of the game will receive this entire update for free.

As is well known, Pearl Abyss is also working on a DLC for Crimson Desert, and there has recently been speculation that it might be related to a maritime and underwater theme. However, there has been no official confirmation from the developers on this matter yet, though they have confirmed that the Crimson Desert DLC will be released this year.
