Capcom planla opprinnelig å gi ut Resident Evil Veronica i 2028
At Summer Game Fest in June, Capcom officially announced Resident Evil Veronica—the franchise’s next remake, which is expected to differ significantly from the original 2000 game, both in terms of gameplay and a more expansive storyline.
It is known that the game is set for release in 2027, although its exact release date remains unknown at the moment. As it turns out, Capcom had originally planned to release Resident Evil Veronica in 2028, but due to issues with the development of other projects, they were able to make progress on the remake. This and much more was revealed by the well-known franchise insider, Dusk Golem, who confirmed that the production of Resident Evil Veronica took 4.5 years—less than other installments in the series. You can check out more detailed comments on this below:
“The Code Veronica Remake started development in late 2022, & its internal goal was to release in Q1 2028. Originally at the time, the goals they were kinda' looking at for RE releases was something like Requiem in 2025, Requiem DLC in 2026, Zero in 2027, Veronica in 2028.
Obviously, this isn't how the Resident Evil releases played out, & this actually wasn't even the first delay to RE9 (which was originally in its online open world version was aiming for a 2024 release date). Requiem & Zero both needed delays, both experienced mid-dev reboots Veronica actually ended up ahead of schedule, & is coming out before Zero Remake as a result. But right now it's in a busy crunch to decide precisely where it'll land. It's way ahead of its originally scheduled 2028 goal, but it's still in active dev & crunch as we speak.”
Earlier, reports had also emerged that Resident Evil Veronica could be showcased at Gamescom 2026 that will take place in August; however, according to a recent update, Capcom has no plans to reveal the game—not even behind closed doors. It is most likely that the game will now be presented at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 (September 17-21). Furthermore, according to EvilHazardBR, the standard edition of Resident Evil Veronica could cost $80—just like Grand Theft Auto VI. Currently, Capcom has not given any comments on this occasion.
Aside from Resident Evil Veronica, the only confirmed project in the franchise is a story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. However, according to unofficial reports, the studio is actively working on several projects—remakes of Resident Evil Zero and the original title, as well as the tenth installment.
Resident Evil Veronica is confirmed to release in 2027 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. The exact release date remains unknown.
