The Witcher 4 vil gjenopprette tilliten til fansen som er skuffet over lanseringen av Cyberpunk 2077
Nearly five years later, Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt RED stands as one of the best open-world action RPGs—but it wasn’t always that way. The game's launch in December 2020 is likely to be remembered in gaming history, as it was plagued by numerous technical issues that left many players disappointed and repeatedly requesting refunds.
In a recent interview with Edge magazine, as reported by GamesRadar+, CD Projekt Red's co-CEO Michał Nowakowski stated that the studio still does not consider the issues surrounding the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 resolved. The team hopes to regain players' trust with the release of The Witcher 4. The highlights from his interview you can check out below:
“I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc. I'm convinced that we lost the faith of some people indefinitely, and that's a fair thing. But I do hope we will be able to make it back – if not with The Witcher 4, then with whatever comes next.”
Earlier this year, CD Projekt RED’s lead technical writer Jaroslaw Rucinski and senior technical writer Adrian Fulneczek stated that the company has learned from the mistakes made during the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020 and is determined not to let them happen again with the upcoming releases of The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. The initial problems with the game's launch were largely due to a lack of proper technical documentation. However, the developers are now working diligently and responsibly to address this issue.
In addition to The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, which do not yet have release dates, CD Projekt RED is working on several other projects:
- Project Sirius – a spin-off of The Witcher series focused on multiplayer, but it will also feature a story campaign.
- Project Hadar – the studio's new IP, described as an "emotional, open-world experience." Rumor has it this will be an action RPG with an emphasis on close-quarters combat.
Additionally, it was recently revealed that another project based on The Witcher is currently in development. This new game will follow a free-to-play model, feature a cooperative mode, and will be released on both PC and mobile devices. It's also worth remembering that the studio Fool's Theory is working on a remake of the first game, as well as a new DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled Songs of the Past, which was announced last month.
