Netflix-tilpasning av Assassin's Creed skal filme nye scener i Firenze og Lucca
Thanks to the unveiling of the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake, titled Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft has managed to regain the public's attention, and there is a chance that, for the first time in many years, we will see a truly high-quality product from the developers. The game is indeed the most anticipated title in the franchise for now, although there are several other games in development, as well as a Netflix series adaptation.
Last month, Netflix confirmed the production start of Assassin’s Creed's upcoming TV show and shared some first details: it won’t be the adaptation of the video game, and instead the show is taking place in 64 AD and will tell “an original story set in the heart of the Roman Empire.” So far, we don’t know which characters and historical figures will appear, but it’s been rumored that we will see Emperor Nero and Seneca the Younger.
As production is underway, Uagna reports that next month filming of Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed TV show will take place in two Italian cities—Florence and Lucca. The source is also confirming some footage was already filmed in the Monastery of Camaldoli, which is located in the Toscana region. It is also mentioned that Netflix opened castings for Extra in these locations, as they are looking for “people who look to be between 18 and 65 years old” and “diverse cultural contexts.”
Unlike Lucca, which does not appear in the Assassin's Creed games, Florence is a familiar setting for fans of the series. It is one of the main cities in Assassin's Creed II, which has been recreated quite accurately, including real historical landmarks such as the Florence Cathedral, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio, and many others.
As for Assassin’s Creed video games, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is confirmed to release on July 9 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with a version for Nintendo Switch 2 rumored to be in development. The next mainline game series title, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, is rumored to release in 2027, while Ubisoft is also developing the remake of the original Assassin’s Creed title.
The cast of Assassin’s Creed TV series includes Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Zachary Hart, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Nabhaan Rizwan, Claes Bang, Noomi Rapace, Ramzy Bedia, Sean Harris, Corrado Invernizzi, Sandra Guldberg-Kampp, Youssef Kerkour, Mirren Mack, and Louis McCartney.
Roberto Patino (Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo) are confirmed to serve as the show’s creators, showrunners, and executive producers. The writers team consists of Sanaz Toossi (A League of Their Own), Sam Reynolds (The Walking Dead: World Beyond), Daniel Goldberg, and Tom Hemmings. The release date for the Assassin’s Creed TV show remains unknown.
