Fans of Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated game of 2026, are constantly wondering when Rockstar Games will release new footage of the upcoming game. Speculation is rampant, as are theories about when the studio will be ready to share new information, and many of these are backed not only by gamers’ imaginations but also by the developers’ tactics in recent years.

Back in March, we saw a report that Rockstar Games might release the new trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI in April; arguments cited included the developers’ incredible level of activity and the frequent mention of the number “4,” which stands for April. Furthermore, gaming insider and YouTuber GameRiot has hinted at possible new information about the game. However, with only a couple of days left until the end of the month, Rockstar Games doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to do anything.

Nevertheless, fans now have a new ray of hope. A user on social media platform X, GTAVI_Countdown, who specializes in news and leaks about GTA 6, pointed out that Rockstar Games likes to announce trailers for its games in late April. For example, on April 25, 2013, the developers announced that five days later, on April 30, a trailer for GTA 5 would be released, dedicated to the game’s main characters—Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Also, on April 30, 2018, the studio announced the release of a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, scheduled for May 2. Thus, this month Rockstar Games may reveal when the new GTA 6 trailer will be released, or they may release it immediately, without an additional announcement.

The remaining days in April make perfect sense for a GTA 6 Trailer 3 announcement:

• GTA 5 Trailer 3 was announced in late April
• RDR2 Trailer 3 was announced in late April too
• Announcing the trailer first is better than shadow dropping it to generate more hype
• Take-Two’s earnings call is scheduled for next month and Trailer 2 is almost a year old

In addition, another point cited is Take-Two Interactive’s upcoming earnings conference call, scheduled for May 21, after which we will likely receive some details about the game, though it is unlikely that a new trailer will be released.

At the same time, another X social media account, Urban GTA 6, has shared his vision about shadow dropping, or the announcement of a new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, with a possibility that it might be leaked.

“Whether Trailer 3 will be announced or shadow dropped is the main question now.

I think they’ll shadow drop it so it doesn’t get leaked.”

At this point, Rockstar Games hasn’t given any hints they will release the new trailer of GTA 6 this month, so such reports just remain a subject of speculations.
