After last year’s release of Silent Hill spin-off, Silent Hill f, Konami confirms further plans to continue expanding the universe, not just to release remakes of the old titles but also new standalone stories. Silent Hill: Townfall, developed by Screen Burn Interactive, will be that kind of title.

The game was initially announced back in 2022, but only this year, during PlayStation’s State of Play we got our first look at upcoming spin-off. We know that Silent Hill: Townfall will be set in the Scotland of 1996, in the fictional town – St. Amelia; we play for Simon Ordell, who is waking up and doesn’t remember how he ended up there—it sounds very much like something out of Silent Hill.

Although Konami and Screen Burn Interactive haven’t reveal the release date of Silent Hill: Townfall yet, gaming insider immalkwalahi has shared that the game will be revealed on Summer Game Fest (June 5-8) with a new trailer, and the release date is reportedly planned for August 14 for PC and PlayStation 5. However, he clarifies it’s just a rumor and usually Silent Hill titles are releasing somewhere between September and October, so he suggests that this may not be the exact release date of the game.

“Silent Hill: Townfall will be released on August 14th, and its release date will be announced in the Summer Game Fest, just like what happened with Silent Hill f.

Regarding the release schedule for previous Silent hill, it will be between the early September and October at least.

There is nothing official from Konami that you can believe or disbelieve. I am only sharing this information; it is just a rumor, nothing more.”

Unlike Silent Hill f, Townfall will be a first-person game and will allow players to use both melee weapons and firearms to fight enemies. The developers also intend to strike a balance between stealth and action in the gameplay, as recently confirmed by lead game designer Graeme McKellan and QA lead Linda Stenback:

"We want stealth and combat to be in our game on equal footing. Sometimes parts of the game will certainly push you forwards one form of dealing with enemy encounters.

We have various ways of doing combat in the game. We can go from melee weapons to firearms and just general distractions. What I really enjoy about melee combat is just how frantic it is. You feel like you're in a real scrap.”

Besides Silent Hill: Townfall, Bloober Team, the developers of Silent Hill 2: Remake, are working on the new version of original Silent Hill title. However, according to the latest report, the game is still at an early stage of development, and the release date will not happen soon.
