2026 has already brought gamers several noteworthy titles that are certainly in the running for Game of the Year award. This is especially true for games like Resident Evil Requiem, Slay the Spire 2, Pokémon Pokoria, Pragmata, and Reanimal—and there are still plenty of highly anticipated and promising titles to come.

Although it’s still too early to draw any conclusions, the Spanish gaming portal Legion Looterana —which also has insider information on many projects—has decided to share its top 6 games of 2026. To the surprise of many, the top spot went to Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert, which has been praised for its detailed open world and well-designed combat system with immense possibilities—according to the portal, it is precisely these kinds of games that win awards at the year’s premier gaming event, The Game Awards.

The list also includes two recent Capcom games—Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata—as well as a new shooter from Bungie, Marathon, the latest installment in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Pokoria, and the sequel to the hit card game, Slay the Spire 2. Even though Crimson Desert’s ratings have improved significantly over the past month, and the developers have released (and continue to release) timely updates for the game, according to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, Pearl Abyss’s game has only a 5% chance of winning Game of the Year. These figures were current as of March, but now Kalshi prediction market reveals the game has only 6%, bringing up the rear of the top five. Grand Theft Auto VI (49%) is in first place among the most anticipated titles, followed by Resident Evil Requiem (15%) in second, Pragmata (8%) in third, and the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, Saros (7%), in fourth.

Speaking of Saros, the game received its first reviews this week, and critics are calling it one of the best games of the year and predicting it will be nominated for numerous gaming awards, including Game of the Year.

As for Crimson Desert, the game recently received a new update – Patch Notes Version 1.04.00 —which brings new features, including game difficulty settings, new storage items, new pets, keyboard/mouse and controller preset options, new category tabs for the inventory, new skills, and fixes for various bugs and issues. The game is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Mac, and Xbox ROG Ally.
