Ubisoft avslører historietrailer for Assassin's Creed Shadows
Ubisoft has just dropped the official story trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, offering fans a deeper look into the narrative of the highly anticipated title. The game, set in 16th-century Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama era, follows the intertwined journeys of Naoe and Yasuke. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, the duo discovers their shared destiny, shaping a new era for Japan.
The trailer teases stunning environments, from vibrant castle towns and bustling ports to serene shrines and lush pastoral landscapes. Ubisoft promises immersive details, including reactive environments, dynamic weather, and changing seasons, which will bring the game world to life.
In addition to the trailer, Ubisoft has been steadily building excitement for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Earlier showcases highlighted its revamped exploration and parkour mechanics, alongside detailed insights into its refined combat system. Notably, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not require an internet connection to play but will include Denuvo anti-tamper technology – likely a sticking point for some fans.
The game is slated for release on March 20, with players eager to dive into the rich Japanese setting. However, some of Ubisoft's other projects have faced delays. Assassin's Creed Shadows takes place in 1579, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, a pivotal time in feudal Japan's history as the Sengoku era nears its end. The game centers around the powerful Oda Nobunaga, who has just triumphed over the Takeda clan with the use of arquebus firearms and explores key moments like his 1581 assault on the Iga province, home to the skilled Iga ikki known for their ninjutsu techniques.
A series of gameplay previews was recently held, during which journalists were allowed to play a four-hour demo of the game. Players started the demo with already-leveled-up characters.
Ukrainian gaming blogger OLD Boi noted that the game is decent, though far from revolutionary. It is known to feature two main protagonists: a "tank" samurai and a female assassin character, renowned for having the highest speed among all main characters in the Assassin's Creed series.
