The development team of Baldur’s Gate 3 is examining situations where Xbox players are being banned for recording explicit scenes
The gaming industry often encounters unforeseen challenges, and recently, such an instance arose surrounding Baldur’s Gate 3. This role-playing game, known for its deep characters and gripping narratives, found itself in the spotlight due to issues arising on Xbox consoles.
It appears that players faced unexpected hurdles when using the Xbox recording feature to capture explicit scenes from Baldur’s Gate 3. Scenes involving full nudity and intimate moments became subjects of discussion within the game.
Players started reporting issues with their Xbox accounts, receiving notifications of policy violations for recording such content. The game’s developers, Larian Studios, swiftly addressed this situation. Michael Douse, the publishing director, confirmed Larian's collaboration with Microsoft to investigate and resolve these issues.
One user posted on the X platform, "We've noticed that some players encountered bans or other issues on Xbox after uploading screenshots and videos of their gameplay content. Our team is engaging with Microsoft and making efforts to resolve this unpleasant situation."
It’s worth noting that developers can intervene and block specific gameplay elements to prevent spoilers or the use of licensed music in a game. However, in this case, it seems the problem arose from the system's automatic content detection rather than censorship.
Baldur’s Gate 3, released for PC in August and subsequently for PS5 and Mac the following month, won over players and critics with its deep and engaging gameplay mechanics. The much-anticipated release of the game on Xbox in December occurred shortly after Baldur’s Gate 3 was awarded Game of the Year at The Game Awards ceremony.
