Konami's latest financial reports mention "remakes" of the game Silent Hill

Japanese publisher Konami announced its plans to revive its long-dormant horror series in October of last year. Alongside developing entirely new games, the company revealed its intention to create a remake of Silent Hill 2, which is being developed by Bloober Team.

In its recent quarterly earnings results, Konami provided an update on its upcoming projects. It mentioned that "remakes" of Silent Hill are in the works. The statement said, "Regarding our ongoing efforts, we are diligently working on Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, faithfully recreating the story, characters, and game design of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved entries in the Metal Gear series, and updating its graphical style to modern standards for the current generation. We are also working on remakes and entirely new entries in the Silent Hill series, which has gained recognition as a psychological horror game."

While this statement might have been made in error, it could imply that more than one remake is in development. VGC has reached out to Konami for clarification and will update this story upon receiving a response.

In March, Bloober Team, the developer behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, stated that the game's development is "close to completion." Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it will introduce changes such as an over-the-shoulder camera, as well as reworking the combat system and specific scenes.

Other Silent Hill projects in the works include Silent Hill Townfall, being developed by Scottish studio NoCode and published by Annapurna Interactive, and Silent Hill F, featuring a "completely new story set in 1960s Japan with a beautiful yet horrifying world."

Additionally, Silent Hill: Ascension, an interactive streaming series where the community can shape the canon of Silent Hill, was launched this week.
