Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1: tournament format, prize pool and more interesting 1

As mentioned, a Marvel Rivals esports tournament took place in late 2024, marking the game's entry into competitive gaming. Following its successful debut, Marvel Rivals Championship returns with Season 1, titled Eternal Night Falls, running from March 8 to April 6.

The event will feature competitions across four regions — China, North America, Europe, and Asia — on both consoles and PCs. Each tournament boasts a prize pool of $14,500. While modest compared to other esports disciplines, it is a promising start. Teams wishing to compete must register and go through open qualifiers.

Tournament Format

Registration for Season 1 of the Marvel Rivals Championship is open until March 8. Participants can join one of the following divisions:

  • China PC
  • North America PC
  • North America Console
  • Europe PC
  • Europe Console
  • Asia PC
  • Asia Console

The tournament kicks off with open qualifiers on March 8-9, where teams will compete in BO1 (best-of-one) matches. The top 128 teams will advance to the double-elimination stage. Meanwhile, others will have another chance to qualify through closed qualifiers scheduled for March 15-16.

Once 128 teams are confirmed, the double-elimination stage will narrow down the competitors. Matches will switch to a BO3 format, eventually producing the top 16 teams. From that point, matches will shift to BO5 until the finals.

The Grand Finals and Lower Bracket Finals will be played in a BO7 format. Double-elimination rounds are set for March 22-23, March 29-30, and April 5-6. This structure allows for a broad range of teams to participate and ensures plenty of exciting matches to captivate fans.

Prize Pool

Organizers have detailed the prize pool distribution:

  • Champion: $6,000
  • 2nd Place: $3,000
  • 3rd Place: $1,500
  • 4th Place: $800
  • 5th-8th Places: $400 each
  • 9th-16th Places: $200 each

Where to Watch
