One of this year’s most successful films was Spider-Man: Brand New Day—a new story about the hero set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film introduced Jean Grey (Sadie Sink) and brought back the villainous version of the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and it's now been confirmed the film will be re-released with extended and deleted scenes.

Deadline shared this report, revealing that a re-release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for this year, likely before the holiday season. The first details have also emerged: specifically, the re-release will include a scene featuring Claire Temple that was cut from the film's original version. Played by Rosario Dawson, Claire Temple has appeared in several Marvel series on Netflix, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, The Defenders, etc. As a nurse, she appears in one of the film’s final scenes, when Peter Parker ends up in the hospital.

It is currently unknown what other scenes will be included in the re-release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film was a massive success for Sony, primarily from a financial standpoint. The film grossed nearly $2.5 billion at the box office and is currently among the top three highest-grossing films of all time, trailing only Avatar ($2.923 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.885 billion).
