Rockstar Games is leaning hard into realism for GTA 6 when it comes to gameplay. Ahead of the new Game Informer issue, which puts GTA 6 front and center, reports suggest the magazine will spend significant time on Leonida Keys' weather, and the first hints of Rockstar's work here have already started to surface.

The Game Informer preview confirms GTA 6 will have an advanced weather system. Florida, the real-world counterpart to Leonida Keys, is mostly sunny and warm, but tropical storms are a fact of life there, and the media hints Rockstar may go even further, recreating full-scale tornadoes, storms, and other natural disasters. Those events would likely affect gameplay too, from how players move across the map to how NPCs behave.

NEW: GTA VI will feature an advanced never seen before weather system designed to simulate Florida’s wild and unpredictable weather.

Rockstar has developed the system to recreate extreme weather conditions including hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning storms and flooding.

Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018, already impressed with its weather, from thunderclaps during rainstorms to heavy snowfall, where spending time in the cold without warm clothing hurt your health. Considering how much effort Rockstar is putting into GTA 6, this side of the game will almost certainly be pushed to a whole new level.

Meanwhile, French outlet TroisCouleurs has also shared its own impressions of playing GTA 6, comparing the experience to watching James Cameron's Avatar in 2009 in terms of graphics, level of detail, and immersion.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
