TV-serien The Last of Us får tre nye skuespillere, inkludert noen fra spillene

The cast of HBO's The Last of Us continues to grow. This time, three new actors have been announced to be joining the show, two of whom will be familiar to anyone who has played The Last of Us Part II, developed by Naughty Dog.

Variety reports John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Argo) will play a character named Joey. Together with Ian Alexander, they will be introduced in the show as the “Heroes of the Highway.” Ian Alexander is known for his role as Lev in The Last of Us Part II, and he will play a new character named Paco in the series. Finally, Laura Bailey, who portrayed Abby in the game, will play Elizabeth, one of the Seraphites' leaders. She previously appeared in the first season of HBO’s The Last of Us; in the season one finale, she played one of the nurses.

John Goodman has joined the cast of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 3, alongside Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander - the original voices of Abby and Lev from The Last of Us: Part II. All three will play brand-new characters, with Bailey taking on Elizabeth, a key leader among the Seraphites.

Season 3 is expected to shift the focus to Abby’s story as the series continues adapting The Last of Us: Part II. Expected to premiere in 2027.

Last week, HBO confirmed the third season of The Last of Us will be the final one, despite earlier rumors of a possible renewal for a fourth. In terms of the story, the third season will focus on Abby, one of the two main female protagonists of The Last of Us Part II; she is portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever in the series. The premiere is set somewhere in 2027.

Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog, previously stated the studio is not involved in the series' production but noted the developers are not done with The Last of Us, once again hinting at the third installment's release in the foreseeable future. Currently, Naughty Dog is working on a new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, rumored to launch next year exclusively on PlayStation 5.
