Capcom antyder at Pragmata får en oppfølger etter at salget overgikk studioets forventninger

This week, Capcom released its latest financial report for the current quarter of the fiscal year, revealing that Pragmata, the studio’s new IP released this April, has sold 2.5 million copies across all platforms. It confirms that the project’s financial performance has exceeded expectations, and the new report suggests that the game's sequel will soon receive the official “green light.”

A new Bloomberg report quotes Capcom Corporate Officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi stating that Pragmata has significantly exceeded the studio’s expectations. According to Shimauchi, the likelihood of a sequel to the game has increased significantly, as you can find out in the full report below:

“Pragmata, a new game released in April, surpassed 2.5 million copies in sales. Capcom Corporate Officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi said the title’s momentum exceeded the company’s internal expectations. Pre-release marketing and the appeal of its main character, Diana, helped drive sales of the sci-fi action-adventure game, he said.

Shimauchi said the likelihood of a sequel is high, raising the prospect that Capcom could develop the title into another pillar franchise and a source of longer-term revenue.”

Previously, Capcom USA COO Rob Dyer had already teased that Pragmata could become a franchise in the future, and the game director, Yonghee Cho, stated that he would be happy to return to work on a sequel —but noted that the final decision remains with the developers. Nevertheless, following recent circumstances, it seems likely that he’ll have something to work on again in the coming years.

The financial report also confirmed that sales of Resident Evil Requiem, another Capcom video game released in 2026, surpassed 8 million copies—and that the franchise’s total sales reached 213 million, surpassing the Final Fantasy series.
