Skeptikere til GTA 6-utgivelsen i år gir etter, november-datoen holder
Rockstar two days ago announced GTA 6 pre-orders, which open next week on June 25, and fans are treating it as confirmation the game will not slip again. The reveal arrived with new cover art and read as the start of the long-delayed Marketing Campaign that Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick had promised would begin this summer. Players have waited two console generations for a new GTA, through a string of pushed-back launch windows, so the relief was loud.
Skepticism had run deep right up to the announcement. Even after Zelnick's assurances, a contingent of so-called Doomers kept insisting Rockstar would not be ready for a November launch. The cover reveal and pre-order date undercut that, and the reaction played out on reddit in real time. ZOoNeR_ opened a celebratory thread declaring November 19 locked in and the delay talk over. Poppitive joked the only delay left would be in seeing family and friends once the game arrives. NoSxKats claimed to have watched a Doomer drop to their knees in a Walmart parking lot. Another simply wrote that they were crying.
I think the celebration is earned, since a dated pre-order window is the firmest commitment Rockstar has made in years and far harder to walk back than a vague marketing promise. The financial side moved with the news. Take-Two shares rose by 5% after GTA 6 pre-order announcement, a jump tied to the pre-order date and the cover reveal even before anyone knows the editions or pricing.
That pricing question is the next worry in line. Some analysts have floated a figure as high as $100 for the standard edition, which the coverage frames as unlikely. Even at $70, the game looks certain to recoup its development costs given the scale of the hype, and Rockstar's continued success at pulling revenue from GTA 5 more than a decade on points to a model the sequel will try to repeat. Next week's pre-order launch is expected to settle the price, which fans welcome for a second reason: it ends the rumor cycle. Coltyn03 noted the community is a week away from never hearing a GTA 6 pricing rumor again.
The cover art itself gave the fanbase plenty to pick apart. The upper-left panel keeps the series tradition of a helicopter, here a Sea Sparrow first seen in the original Vice City, hovering over the pastel skyline with a minigun bolted to the cockpit steps. The mounted weapon on a utility chopper hints at the kind of aftermarket vehicle customization GTA Online already allows. Protagonists Jason Duvall and Lucia Caminos anchor another panel, Lucia holding a short-barrelled pistol against the silhouetted palm trees that have framed earlier GTA 6 artwork. Jason, per Rockstar's site, grew up among grifters before an Army stint and drug-running work in the Keys; Lucia served time in the Leonida Penitentiary before sheer luck got her out.
Other panels reward the magnifying glass. A daredevil pulls a wheelie on what looks like a Principe Alvino V1, a new bike first glimpsed in a May 2025 screenshot of Jason, this version painted in pink and purple synthwave shades and plastered with logos. A Vapid Police Cruiser races alongside it, lightly restyled from its GTA 5 appearance. A woman in a bikini echoes the original Vice City cover, wearing a turquoise jersey matching the Vice City Manatees, a "Vice Baby" tattoo, a "305" wrist tattoo for Miami's area code, and a "Siempre" chain. She sips a hard-seltzer parody where the word "Thaw" stands in for White Claw, with The Atoll Bar and Grill behind her on the landscape version of the art.
Some fans see patterns whether or not they exist. Historical_Leg5998 predicted a flood of posts about the iris shape of the crocodile's eyes in the art and whether it signals the target framerate, the kind of reading that follows every GTA reveal. hellotheregame argued the constant conspiracy theories were a bigger nuisance than the pricing rumors and hoped trailer news would put them to rest.
That trailer is the next thing fans are watching. Insider and YouTuber DarkViperAU has claimed Trailer 3 is rumored to be 20 minutes long and set for release this month, roughly the length of the God of War Laufey announcement at State of Play. A runtime that long would likely mean the first real GTA 6 gameplay footage rather than another cinematic tease. DarkViperAU framed it loosely, saying he knows someone who might know something, and recent months have been full of trailer and pre-order rumors that never landed. With pre-orders now dated, the timing at least fits, and next week should confirm or kill the rest.
