As expected, this decision sparked a mixed reaction among players, as it came to light after pre-orders opened. As a result, many players on Steam forums have already stated that they’ve removed the game from their wishlists and will wait for 007 First Light to go on sale, even though they were ready to dive right in as soon as possible.

Similar complaints have also been reported by Reddit users. It has been noted once again that the presence of Denuvo was revealed several days before the release, rather than the fact that Denuvo was removed from the game several days before the release. Of course, many gamers are also worried that this will affect the game’s performance, even though the PC system requirements for 007 First Light don’t seem excessive for 2026. But there are also those who aren't put off by Denuvo at all and will still pre-order the game.

Be that as it may, 007 First Light remains one of the most anticipated and intriguing projects of the year, despite the inclusion of Denuvo. Last month, several gaming media outlets spoke positively about IO Interactive’s new project, calling it “the best Bond game” and one of the top contenders for the title of “Best Game of 2026.” The combat system, relentless action, and detailed environments received particular praise.
