Over the past few weeks, several details have been revealed about the new Far Cry game—a title that hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by Ubisoft but which, according to rumors, is already in the final stages of development and could be released in 2027. However, a recent report about the game may seem a bit concerning to some fans of the series.

According to gaming insider Tom Henderson, who previously stated that Far Cry 7 development was “going through hell,” in a now-deleted post shared that Ubisoft is testing generative AI tools in the game, specifically for ‘Research & Development’. As he clarified, it doesn’t look good at the moment, as he mentioned, “It looks like shit.” You can check out the post on Reddit dedicated to Henderson's report below.

Tom Henderson: Ubisoft is testing generative AI in Far Cry 7 for R&D and “it looks like shit”

  • Tom clarified that the 'Teammates' thing isn't for FC7, they have just been testing prompts in Far Cry for research and development
  • Ubisoft is accelerating investment in “playable generated AI experiences”
  • First gen AI playable game/experience should be out in the next few years

While communicating with X users, Henderson also clarified that Ubisoft had been conducting tests across various sectors, not just specifically for Far Cry 7. Earlier rumors had suggested that the game would feature an advanced AI-based NPC behavior system.

Ubisoft recently confirmed that not only new Far Cry titles but also Assassin’s Creed and Ghost Recon will release in the coming years, through 2029. We already know that the studio is working on, at least, two new Assassin’s Creed games—Codename Hexe and Codename Invictus—and the new Ghost Recon, which is expected to be Ubisoft’s next release after Black Flag Resynced.

As for Far Cry 7, the game is reportedly set in Alaska and is also rumored to feature a separate extraction mode. The release date is currently unknown.
