Sony has not yet confirmed any details about the PlayStation 6, its next-generation console. However, a growing number of rumors and leaks suggest that it will be a very powerful device that will delight gamers with its high performance.

According to reports that surfaced earlier this year, PlayStation 6 will be capable of running games at 4K resolution at 120 frames per second; furthermore, the console will be approximately 3 to 5 times more powerful in terms of ray tracing performance than the PlayStation 5 Pro. In addition, it is reported that players will enjoy full backward compatibility with the PS4 and PS5, and the console itself is set to launch as early as late 2027.

New information from the technical experts at Digital Foundry suggests that the PlayStation 6 may be capable of ray tracing at 60 FPS, thanks to the AMD RDNA 5 architecture that will be used in the device’s graphics processor. According to them, the PlayStation 5 Pro managed to achieve 30 FPS, and there is no reason to believe that the PlayStation 6 won’t reach new heights.

There are also rumors that, alongside the PlayStation 6, Sony is working on a new handheld console codenamed Project Canis. According to the latest rumors, the console will also support full backward compatibility with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, will be more powerful than the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Ally X, and will be priced between $500 and $700.

As for now, none of these are confirmed by Sony, so these reports should be considered with a grain of salt.
