Kommende Watch Dogs-filmatisering lover å beholde spillets ånd

As we know, there is an upcoming movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s 2014 title, Watch Dogs. Although the film will not share the story that we saw in the franchise’s games, it will preserve its spirit and capture its atmosphere.

Since the movie finished its shooting in September 2024, there haven't been further details about it, and it still doesn’t have a release date. In the recent interview with Screen Rant, Tom Blyth, who plays in the movie, has revealed that Watch Dogs adaptation’s writers were able to adapt Ubisoft’s concept about hacking in a huge open world and praises the movie’s script. “I think the way they wrote that script...even though I'm not particularly a gamer myself, I knew the games. They took it, and they made it about the world we live in today. I will say that I do think that the film really tears apart this world we live in today, which is this online, the dangers of everything being interconnected and online in the way that the games do. Yeah, that was a vague answer, but that's all I can say. Sorry, man.”

Watch Dogs is not the only Ubisoft’s upcoming adaptation. As we know, FX is producing a Far Cry TV show that is also confirmed not to adapt game series titles, and Netflix is currently shooting a TV series based on Assassin’s Creed, set in 64 ADS in the Roman Empire. As for Watch Dogs video games, there have been rumors that Ubisoft is working on Watch Dogs Legion: Director’s Cut, but no confirmation yet from the studio.

The upcoming Watch Dogs movie is directed by Mathieu Turi (The Deep Dark, Meander). The cast includes Law X, Tom Bluth, Sophie Wilde, Markella Kavenagh, and Georgia Small. The release date is still yet to be announced.
