Epic Games has officially rolled out changes to Fortnite’s in-game currency alongside the launch of Chapter 7 Season 2 on March 19, 2026 — and while prices haven’t technically increased, players are now getting less value for their money.

V-Bucks Packs Now Offer Less Value

Fortnite V-Bucks Get Nerfed — Players Now Pay More for Less 1

Instead of raising prices, Fortnite has introduced a form of “shrinkflation,” meaning V-Buck bundles now include fewer V-Bucks at the same cost. For example, the most popular bundle has dropped from 1,000 V-Bucks for $8.99 to just 800 V-Bucks for the same price.

This adjustment applies across all bundles:

  • $8.99 → 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
  • $22.99 → 2,400 V-Bucks (previously 2,800)
  • $36.99 → 4,500 V-Bucks (previously 5,000)
  • $89.99 → 12,500 V-Bucks (previously 13,500)

The option to purchase exact V-Buck amounts has also been affected. Players now pay around $2 for 100 V-Bucks, compared to roughly $1 previously, making it significantly less cost-effective.

Additionally, Fortnite Crew subscribers will now receive 800 V-Bucks per month instead of 1,000, reflecting the same changes.

Battle Pass Prices Adjusted — But Not Really Cheaper

Pass prices have been lowered in terms of V-Bucks, but due to the reduced value of V-Bucks, the real-world cost remains unchanged.

Updated pricing includes:

  • Battle Pass: 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
  • OG Pass: 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
  • Music Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400)
  • LEGO Pass: 1,200 V-Bucks (previously 1,400)

In dollar terms, the cost stays the same — meaning passes aren’t actually cheaper despite the lower V-Buck requirements.

What It Means for Players

While the price tags haven’t changed, players now receive fewer V-Bucks overall, reducing their purchasing power in the Item Shop. Cosmetics still cost the same, meaning fewer items can be bought with the same amount of money.

In short, Fortnite’s latest update keeps prices stable on the surface — but quietly makes everything more expensive behind the scenes.
