The December 2025 update for Brawl Stars is shaping up to be one of the game’s biggest yet. Supercell is introducing a brand-new power system called Buffies, a fresh Claw Machine, major Brawler reworks, improvements to the economy, Brawl Pass adjustments, and more. The full breakdown will be revealed during Brawl Talk on December 13, but here’s a clear look at what’s coming.

Major Gameplay Changes

With every Brawler now having access to Hypercharge, the developers are shifting the core progression system. Power Level 12 is being removed entirely. Instead, a new gameplay layer takes its place: Buffies — enhancements for Gadgets, Star Powers, and Hypercharge.

Key changes include:

• 18 Buffies will be available at launch, with more coming through future Claw Machines.
• Discounted in-app purchases and Gem bundles are planned for later updates.
• Mythic and Epic Gears will be phased out for Brawlers who receive Buffies (players will be refunded).
• Some Gadgets will now be aimable, adding new skill depth.

What Are Buffies?

Buffies are a new collectible power type that enhances Gadgets, Star Powers, and Hypercharges. Each Brawler will eventually receive three:

1. A Buffie for both Gadgets
2. A Buffie for both Star Powers
3. A Buffie affecting Hypercharge

Buffies come in three types: Gadget Buffie, Star Buffie, and Hyper Buffie, and they’re earned through the new Claw Machine.

Visually, Buffies appear as small, adorable keychains — briefly displayed in matches and permanently visible on your main screen.

Example: Reworked Spike

Spike’s first Gadget fires two waves of three needles that damage and slow enemies. With its Buffie equipped, hitting an enemy with all three needles briefly roots them. Similar upgrades apply to his second Gadget, both Star Powers, and his Hypercharge.

Supercell plans to ship Buffies for six Brawlers in the December update. Because they take longer to design than Hypercharges, some future updates may include fewer.

The Claw Machine

The Claw Machine is where players pull random Buffies:

• Each pull costs 1000 Coins + 2000 Power Points
• Each machine contains Buffies for a small selection of Brawlers
• 18 Buffies total → 6 Buffies per Claw Machine
• The feature unlocks at 1000 trophies
• The first pull is free
• Gem and IAP purchases will be added later
• Once you collect all Buffies, you can spend 10,000 Bling per pull to unlock Buffie skins

Unlike Hypercharges, Supercell is testing the system using soft currency first, with Gems and purchases added later.

Brawler Reworks and Competitive Depth

The team explained why Buffies build on existing systems rather than replacing them:

• They want more strategic depth for competitive players
• They don’t want to overcomplicate core gameplay for casual players
• With nearly 100 Brawlers, it’s time to refresh older kits without losing each Brawler’s identity
• The direction is shifting toward utility and skill expression, not raw power

Alongside this, certain Gadgets can now be aimed with a joystick, increasing the skill ceiling while keeping tap-to-activate functionality for those who prefer it.

Economy Improvements

The in-game economy is receiving a major buff:

• More early-game resources on Trophy Road
• Stronger rewards for end-game players (Brawl Pass tail rewards, Mega Quests)
• A new Starr Drop: the Chaos Drop

Chaos Drop: Bigger Rewards

Chaos Drops are worth four times more, on average, than normal Starr Drops. They can “split” up to eight times, similar to Sushi.

Whatever rarity you land on is the one that gets multiplied — meaning you can potentially pull eight Legendaries or even eight Ultras, a new rarity exclusive to Chaos Drops.

Chaos Drops will appear in:

• The new Brawl Pass
• Random Daily Wins
• Occasional special events
