To celebrate, Doritos is rolling out two new Minecraft-inspired flavors. Creeper Vinegar delivers a "zesty, explosive flavor," mimicking the infamous green creatures' sneaky nature, while Ghast BBQ offers a "sweet and tangy taste," paying tribute to the fiery foes of the Nether. If that sounds familiar, it’s essentially salt and vinegar versus sweet chili.

But that’s not all, Doritos is changing its iconic triangle shape for the first time ever, transforming into squares for a limited 100-pack run. These ultra-rare packs come with a £10,000 prize if you’re lucky enough to snag one.

With this bold campaign, Doritos continues its tradition of blending pop culture, gaming, and snacking into a seamless, and delicious, experience. So, whether you're chasing Creepers or hunting Ghasts, Doritos has the perfect snack to fuel your Minecraft-inspired adventures.

You probably kidding if you ask “What is the Minecraft Movie?”

The Minecraft Movie, directed by Jared Hess, brings the beloved Mojang Studios video game to life in an exciting live-action/CGI blend. Starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Jennifer Coolidge, this adventure comedy follows four misfits who are pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld – a world made entirely of blocks. Alongside the expert crafter Steve (Jack Black), they must protect the Overworld from iconic foes like Creepers and zombies while rediscovering their creativity to find their way back home.

The film, set for an April 4, 2025 release, has been years in the making. Initially announced in 2014, it underwent several changes in directors and writers before Hess and a stellar cast brought it to fruition. Filmed in New Zealand, the movie promises a blend of humor, action, and the imaginative spirit that has made Minecraft a global phenomenon.

Get ready to see your favorite blocky world on the big screen in a cinematic adventure packed with heart, humor, and plenty of pixelated thrills.

video game adaptations | movies based on video games

I will also add a trend forecast on the topic. Successful video game adaptations like The Last of Us, Fallout: The Series, Sonic the Hedgehog, Uncharted, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider showcase how these stories can thrive beyond consoles. By blending engaging narratives, iconic characters, and cinematic visuals, these projects have appealed to both gamers and wider audiences, proving that well-crafted adaptations can elevate beloved franchises while staying true to their roots.

Expect even more game adaptations with the scale of the ambitious Minecraft Movie, as the cast includes Hollywood stars and the CGI looks very expensive, meaning a good box office return is expected. Indeed, the trailer inspires hope, and despite the skepticism, I believe this is another significant milestone this year in the history of video games, which I described in my post about the biggest game releases in 2025.
