Microsoft viser frem kommende titler på første Xbox Developer Direct i 2025
On January 23, Microsoft kicked off its year with the first Xbox Developer Direct of 2025, revealing updates and announcements for four major games: Ninja Gaiden 4, South of Midnight, Clair Obsur: Expedition 33, and Doom: The Dark Ages.
The event was streamed live on Xbox’s YouTube and Twitch channels and delivered exciting news for gamers across platforms.
Clair Obsur: Expedition 33
Clair Obsur: Expedition 33, a new turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, introduced its innovative "reactive" combat system that combines risk and strategy for quicker gameplay. The game also showcased its customizable characters and French fantasy setting. Players can dive into this role-playing experience starting April 24, 2025.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom: The Dark Ages, a prequel to Doom (2016), was another standout reveal. Set in medieval times, the game emphasizes power and force rather than speed, distinguishing it from the frenetic pace of Doom Eternal. With mechanics like a saw-blade shield, a cybernetic dragon, and massive mechs, Doom: The Dark Ages promises chaotic and fun gameplay. The title is set to launch on May 15, 2025.
South of Midnight
Compulsion Games unveiled more details about their upcoming title, South of Midnight, a Southern gothic action-adventure set in a fictionalized Deep South. Players take on the role of Hazel, a protagonist searching for her mother while confronting haunted creatures and colossal bosses like a giant crocodile. The game, featuring unique stop-motion-inspired animation, is scheduled for release on April 8, 2025.
Ninja Gaiden 4
The highlight of the event was the announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4, marking the franchise's return after more than a decade. Co-developed by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, this installment builds on the legacy of the Ninja Gaiden series, which last saw a mainline release in 2012 with Ninja Gaiden 3. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
Ninja Gaiden 2: Black
Alongside Ninja Gaiden 4, Microsoft revealed Ninja Gaiden 2: Black, a remake of the 2008 classic, now rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. The game launched on January 23 and is immediately available on Xbox Game Pass, offering a refreshed take on a beloved entry in the series.
What’s Next for Xbox?
While the Developer Direct focused on these four games, Microsoft hinted at an even bigger year ahead, with anticipated releases like Avowed, Fable, and The Outer Worlds 2 slated for later in 2025. With such a strong lineup, Xbox appears poised to deliver a year filled with thrilling gaming experiences for its community.
