KFC's Golden Chicken Trophy: The Reward for Conquering a Unique Zelda Speedrun

Denne artikkelen er tilgjengelig på følgende språk

KFC has devised a unique challenge called The Recipe Run, inspired by its iconic "original recipe" chicken. The challenge is a speedrun for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and the winner was promised an exclusive golden chicken trophy.

To emerge victorious in The Recipe Run, participants had to showcase an empty inventory and then embark on a quest to the Bedrock Bistro restaurant within the game. There, they encountered a Goron character named Gomo, often likened to KFC's founder, Colonel Sanders (referred to as 'The Goronel' in the speedrun guidelines). After conversing with Gomo, players were free to explore the game world in search of one raw bird drumstick, oil, and 11 different herbs or spices.

The ultimate goal was to craft fried chicken, at which point the speedrun concluded. While players were permitted to use teleports, they were strictly prohibited from exploiting glitches or purchasing any ingredients (except for the oil); instead, they had to scavenge for them in the game's vast universe.

This competition was a collaborative effort with the speedrunning community Speedrun Espanol, and the grand winner was Keuss, a player from France, who completed the run in an impressive time of 1:07.800.

As a prize, KFC awarded the victorious player with a remarkable golden trophy shaped like a chicken thigh, valued at €11,000.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which was launched on May 12, achieved remarkable success, selling 10 million copies worldwide within its first three days, as reported by Nintendo.
