Backlash Ensues as Red Dead Redemption Nintendo Switch and PS4 Ports Trailer Gathers Dislikes

Denne artikkelen er tilgjengelig på følgende språk

The unveiling of the Nintendo Switch and PS4 ports for Red Dead Redemption has sparked a wave of discontent among fans, as the trailer on YouTube has been inundated with a staggering number of dislikes. As of the time of writing, the disapproval count stands at a hefty 112,000, dwarfing the mere 36,000 likes. This backlash stems from fans' fervent desire to see the beloved original Red Dead Redemption available on more platforms, with many hoping for a revitalizing remaster or a compelling remake.

Regrettably, the Red Dead Redemption revival doesn't take the form of a remake or remaster of the cherished classic. Even more disheartening, the comeback doesn't extend to a PC port, leaving PC gamers who reveled in the experience of Red Dead Redemption 2 unable to continue the story on their preferred platform. To compound matters, this re-release of Red Dead Redemption is priced at $49.99, despite lacking any significant enhancements.

While the Red Dead Redemption re-release does incorporate the Undead Nightmare DLC, it glaringly omits the original game's online multiplayer component. Consequently, it doesn't offer all the content present in the 2010 launch of the original version, which makes the current pricing even more perplexing. This convergence of factors has resulted in a chorus of discontent from fans, a sentiment clearly reflected in the substantial number of dislikes the game's YouTube trailer has received.

Take-Two's CEO's assertion that the $59.99 price point for Red Dead Redemption is "commercially accurate" has done little to soothe the angered fan base. Adding to the frustration is the absence of native versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Notably, there isn't even an Xbox One rendition of the game to parallel the PS4 port. Xbox users are left with the option of revisiting the Xbox 360 iteration of Red Dead Redemption, which frequently sees substantial discounts, in stark contrast to the current re-release pricing.

Given the controversy surrounding the Grand Theft Auto trilogy remaster, one would assume that lessons were learned to prevent a similar uproar with Red Dead Redemption. However, this appears to be wishful thinking. With the imminent arrival of Red Dead Redemption on PS4 and Switch, fans might not anticipate any delays. They'll likely have to make do with the current offering and hope for the eventual expansion of the open-world western adventure to the PC platform.
