Sony states that it will withhold information about the PS6 from Activision if it is acquired by Microsoft

During a meeting in April (according to Axios), SIE CEO Jim Ryan informed the US Federal Trade Commission that their collaboration with Activision in the past had led to the development of superior features for PlayStation consoles, setting them apart from their competitors.

However, Ryan stated that if Microsoft were to acquire Activision, this partnership would come to an end.

"We simply cannot take the risk of a company owned by a direct competitor having access to that information," he told the regulator.

Ryan noted that as an independent company, Activision is motivated to create great games for all platforms, but after the acquisition, their focus would shift more towards enhancing the Xbox business rather than leveraging the unique features of the PS5 or assisting Sony in developing better consoles.

In a heavily edited part of Ryan's discussion with the FTC, the executive hinted that Sony's experience with Mojang, the creator of Minecraft, after its acquisition by Microsoft raised concerns for the company regarding a similar deal with Activision.
