Formula 1 held the first Grand Prix in virtual reality
It was noteworthy that the Grand Prix was able to gather over 400,000 viewers in a live broadcast. The first e-sports race was held on March 22 on the highway in Bahrain.
Due to an outbreak of coronavirus, the Formula 1 tournament was temporarily suspended. Later, the organizers moved part of the competition to the digital world. They promised to hold virtual races on the same dates on which the real performances of the riders were planned. Esportsmen and real racers competed in the computer game F1 2019.
In the recent virtual Bahrain Grand Prix, several real racers, including Lando Norris and Nicholas Latifi, sat behind the wheel of the game racing cars. The latter compete in the current Formula 1 Grand Prix, representing the McLaren and Williams teams, respectively.
