The next Major-tour to take place in Kiev

After the second match of The Boston Major 2016 quarterfinals, the first details of the spring Major-tournament have being announced.

The next tournament will be hosted in Kiev, and the main stage of the event is scheduled on April 20 - 23. PGL became the organizer of the event. This organization has previously commanded The Manila Major and The Boston Major.

The Kiev Major 2017 will be the fifth tournament supported by Valve and the last championship before The International 2017. In 2016-2017 season, Valve decided to conduct only two Major tours.

Also, the organizers decided to change the system of qualifications to the second Major-tour. The teams from CIS and South America will participate in the separated qualification round.  Except from them, the best teams of the Battle Cup will get several slots at the closed qualifiers.

In Valve Dota 2 Majors, 16 teams are the participants. Several participants will receive direct invitations from the organizers, and other teams will be determined at the regional qualifiers. The prize pool for each major is $3,000,000.
