From the Open Qualifiers to the Regionals, the path of qualified teams to TI6 has been fulfilled.

The International 2016 teams have been chosen. Some have battled their way into the slots with great honor so that they can set foot to the biggest tournament yet in Dota II’s history, The International 2016. It has been a wild ride, but all the slots have been filled and the stage is set for TI6. Let’s see all of the teams that will pack their backs and will be booking a flight to Seattle this coming August.

Americas Qualifier: Evil Geniuses and Digital Chaos

These two teams have had a great run in the qualifiers. While DC has been leisurely invited, however, Evil Geniuses had to carnage 11 teams in the Open Qualifiers – Americas to clinch a spot at the Americas Regional Qualifier.

In the group stages, Evil Geniuses continued their streak of dominance, only dropping a game against compLexity. This was the point of certainty that they’d clinch the first spot to get out of the tiebreaker games unscathed, EG had then obtained the first ticket to Seattle by defeating compLexity in the tiebreaker games.

DC had a somewhat hard time before they could even get to the playoffs, placing 3rd just shy of one win to go into the tiebreaker games. However, despite their 2 dropped games in the group stages, they showed resiliency and picked up the pace to clinch the second spot of the Americas’ qualified teams in the playoffs, defeating compLexity in the process.

Meanwhile, compLexity, being the runner-up of the playoffs, will take up the Americas’ Wildcard spot to have a chance of becoming one of the qualified teams in the Wildcard Series portion of TI6.

Europe Qualifier: Team Secret and Alliance

Two European powerhouses have powered their way out of the qualifiers and into The International 2016. Alliance was invited in the Regional qualifiers directly. Team Secret, however, went beast-mode and decimated the competition in the Open Qualifiers – Europe in order to get their spot in the group stages.

Much like what happened in the Americas Qualifiers, Team Secret, the boys who fought for their spot via the Open Qualifiers, went to be at the top of the Group stages and won the tiebreaker games to clinch their slot to Seattle. Team Secret went 6-3 in the group stages along with Escape Gaming and Fantastic Five and went 2-0 undefeated in the tiebreakers to win it.

Alliance did somewhat mediocre on their Group stages, going 5-4 (4th place) and just shy of making it to the tiebreaker games. However, they rampaged then in the playoffs stage to win against Escape Gaming in the Finals to get the 2nd European slot for The International 2016.

Escape Gaming, the runner-up to Alliance in the playoffs will take up the European Wildcard slot to have a chance of becoming one of the qualified teams in the Wildcard Series portion of TI6.

China Qualifier: Wings and Vici Gaming Reborn

Wings Gaming and Vici Gaming Reborn are both directly invited teams to the Chinese Regional Qualifiers. Both teams have been vindicated from winning since the Manila Majors, and they have definitely proved their teams’ strength once again to get their share of action in Seattle.

Having both been invited, it was pretty clear that they’d do well in the group stages. Wings Gaming had tied with EHOME in the group stages. In the tiebreaker games, all is well for Wings and they defeated EHOME with a 1-0 score to be qualified for TI6.

Vici Gaming Reborn, however, finished 3rd place to miss out on the tiebreaker games. Instead, they made their way through in the playoffs, defeating their main sister team, Vici Gaming (2-1) and EHOME in the Grand Finals to get the 2nd China Qualifiers spot.

EHOME, after losing to Vici Gaming Reborn, will take up the Chinese Wildcard slot to have a chance of becoming one of the qualified teams in the Wildcard Series portion of TI6.

Southeast Asia Qualifier: TNC Gaming and Fnatic

After a series of upsets and unexpected happenings, the smoke cleared out on the heavy battles of the strongest SEA teams. TNC Gaming, a team that just barely fought their way through the Open Qualifiers, defeated a lot of signature teams to clinch the first slot of SEA for The International.

TNC Gaming, a strong team that’s somewhat known in SEA for pulling upsets and some great display of skills, barely made it out of the Open Qualifiers – Southeast Asia, clinching the #2 spot for a shot at the Regional Qualifiers – SEA. TNC has pulled off a great group stages (7-2) to have a place in the tiebreaker games, along with Fnatic and Execration. TNC has defeated both Fnatic and fellow Filipino team, Execration, to get the first plane slot to Seattle.

As a result, heavily favored team, Fnatic, had to take a detour and defeat everyone in the playoffs, defeating Execration in the Grand Finals of the Regional Qualifiers – SEA. They clinched the 2nd Southeast Asian spot to TI6.

Execration, being the runner-up to Fnatic in the playoffs, will take the SEA Wildcard slot to have a chance of becoming one of the qualified teams in the Wildcard Series portion of TI6.

Wild Card Series: compLexity (NA), Escape Gaming (EU), EHOME (CN), Execration (SEA)

For the runner-up teams of the Regional Qualifiers, they’ll still get a chance to join the other qualifies teams and claim the two remaining Wildcard slots. They’ll have to battle it out on the Wild Card Series and the last two teams standing will get the said slots and be a part of the main group stages of The International 2016.
